Recurring Winter Events/Activities
- Visit the Lake Lodge Recreation Center for some ice-skating or snowshoeing on Lake Winona. They’re open Monday-Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and on Saturday/Sunday from 1:00-7:00pm. A winter seasonal pass is just $15. Snowshoes, ice skates, broomball sticks, and hockey sticks can be rented on a daily rate from the Lodge.
- Strap on your snowshoes & explore Winona’s enchanting trails. Winona features a number of in-town parks and trails as well as nearby State Parks that offer both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Check out more information from Visit Winona and plan your next great excursion!
- Ice Skate at the Bud King Ice Arena (670 E Front St) in Winona. The Bud King Ice Arena features a new indoor ice refrigeration system and outdoor ice rink that overlook the beautiful Mississippi River. The arena is managed by the Winona Area Youth Hockey Association (WAYHA). For more information on open skate times, skating lessons, and hockey programs, visit the WAYHA website.

March 6th: 2:00-5:00pm: Live Music with Ric Gillman located at the Trempealeau Hotel (11332 Main St): Take the short drive to Trempealeau to listen to Ric Gillman. Hailing from Madeline Island on Lake Superior: Ric Gillman, recording and performing artist, a world class finger style guitarist on the 6 and 12 string acoustic guitar with many credits to his craft. Steeped in heartfelt story and humor, each performance is unique and engaging.
March 9th: 5:30-7:00pm: Taproom Bingo at Island City Brewing Company: Come join us in our taproom for some free beer to play bingo here at Island City. Who doesn’t love a chance to win some free beer!?
March 12th: 10:30-11:30am: Gallery Walk & Talk with Eric Mueller at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum: Join artist Eric Mueller for a walk and talk in his exhibition “Reset 2021”, on display through May 1, 2022, at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. In this informal conversation, Mueller will discuss the processes and inspirations behind his work and answer your questions about the exhibition. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the exhibition with the artist.
March 12th: 1:00-5:00pm: Bald Eagle Field Trip at the National Eagle Center in Wabasha MN: In the winter months hundreds of Bald Eagles migrate to this area to find open water on the Mississippi River near Wabasha, MN. You can learn more about eagles in the Upper Mississippi River Valley and get great views of Bald Eagles and nests along the river on a guided field trip with our expert naturalists.
