Recurring Winter Events/Activities

  • Visit the Lake Lodge Recreation Center for some ice-skating or snowshoeing on Lake Winona.  They’re open Monday-Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and on Saturday/Sunday from 1:00-7:00pm.  A winter seasonal pass is just $15.  Snowshoes, ice skates, broomball sticks, and hockey sticks can be rented on a daily rate from the Lodge.
  • Strap on your snowshoes & explore Winona’s enchanting trails.  Winona features a number of in-town parks and trails as well as nearby State Parks that offer both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.  Check out more information from Visit Winona and plan your next great excursion!
  • Ice Skate at the Bud King Ice Arena (670 E Front St) in Winona.  The Bud King Ice Arena features a new indoor ice refrigeration system and outdoor ice rink that overlook the beautiful Mississippi River.  The arena is managed by the Winona Area Youth Hockey Association (WAYHA).  For more information on open skate times, skating lessons, and hockey programs, visit the WAYHA website.

This Week in Winona

February 16th: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm: Live Music Featuring Sugar Lads at Blooming Grounds Coffee House: This dynamic group comes together to play some rockin’ tunes, every 3rd Wednesday of the month! Singer/guitarists Isaac Yanta and Duncan Wellcome are joined by drummer/guitarist Andrew Head, bassist Kallista Mathias, and saxophonist Nick Buban to crank out some classic covers and goofy originals. This crew will have you laughing and grooving all night long. Stop in and enjoy a fresh hot pizza or one of Blooming Grounds new featured appetizers during this set!

February 19th: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm: Indoor Farmers’ Market located at East Recreation Center (210 Zumbro St): Get your fresh food fix, sip some coffee, interact with friends, and enjoy a leisurely morning.

February 19th: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Sue Berg author event located at Paperbacks and Pieces (429 Mankato Ave): Stop in and pick up Sue’s 2nd book in her driftless series! Located at Winona’s oldest bookstore Paperbacks and Pieces. While you are there browse for some new books to read with over 35,000 titles there is sure to be a book you will enjoy.

February 20th: 2:00 PM: Winona Film Society: Decoding the Driftless located at Winona Arts Center (228 E 5th St): This is an unusually fun and adventurous science-documentary film, with Emmy-winning filmmakers George Howe, Tim Jacobson, Rob Nelson, and Director Jonas Stenstrom of Untamed Science. The Driftless region is an exceptionally rare, scenic, and fascinating landscape, hiding right in the middle of North America. You’ll soar high over rugged bluffs, skim the surface of primordial rivers, venture deep underground to mysterious secret worlds, marvel at ancient archeological treasures, and hang perilously over massive rock cliffs with endangered peregrine falcons, all while learning the fascinating story of how this landscape came to be.
